Fortymile Gold Placers has a goldsmithing workshop/studio in Dawson City, where we use the placer gold which we mine to fabricate jewellery.
We refer to the gold we mine as ''green gold'' because it is produced without chemicals, and restoration of the mined area is ongoing and thorough. Our operations have gained several environmental awards over the years.
Because the gold which we use has been mined in an environmentally responsible manner, our clients know that the jewellery we make for them can be worn with pride.
At our studio, the visitor can watch us working by hand to create original gold jewellery. The fabrication process starts with melting the fine gold dust and pouring gold bars. We then work the gold bars with various techniques to create unique pieces. Many of the fabrication techniques we use are borrowed from the goldsmiths of antiquity and our work has often been compared to the treasures of past civilizations.
The placer gold from the Fortymile River is natural 20k gold, thus the jewellery we create from this gold is 20k as well. We also use 24k pure gold, refined from our placer gold. Our work often features natural gold nuggets. All of the jewellery we create are unique, original pieces. We frequently work with our clients to design original, custom pieces for them. We invite you to view the photos of some of the work we have done for inspiration for fine gold jewellery we could create for you.
